Our Practices
Deep expertise across the enterprise technology stack.
We organise our work into six practice areas — each built around the business decisions and operational challenges that matter most to enterprise organisations.
Cloud Engineering
Building software in the cloud is not the same as building cloud-native software. Organisations that treat cloud infrastructure as a hosting decision rather than an architectural one accumulate cost, complexity, and fragility over time. We design and build cloud-native systems from the ground up — purpose-built applications, microservices, APIs, and data pipelines that use the cloud as an active ingredient rather than a passive runtime. We also work with engineering teams to improve the operational layer: CI/CD, infrastructure as code, observability, and the engineering practices that determine whether cloud investments deliver the reliability and cost efficiency they promise.
Platforms
Technologies we work with
A CTO, VP of Engineering, or Head of Platform at a mid-to-large organisation whose cloud environment has become a constraint on delivery speed, cost, or reliability — or that needs cloud-native software built to a production standard.
What we address
- —Custom software requirements that packaged enterprise platforms cannot meet, built cloud-native on AWS, Azure, or GCP
- —Monolithic applications that need to be decomposed into services that can be scaled, deployed, and maintained independently
- —Infrastructure that was not designed for the workloads now running on it — driving up cost, reducing reliability, or preventing scale
- —Engineering teams without the cloud engineering maturity to reliably ship and operate production systems
- —CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and observability gaps creating deployment risk and operational blind spots
- —Legacy custom applications that can no longer support current business scale or engineering team velocity
Enterprise Platform Engineering
Most enterprise organisations run on a combination of major platforms — SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, ServiceNow, SharePoint — alongside custom-built applications. The challenge is rarely any single platform in isolation; it is making them work together, extending them where they fall short, and building the integrations and custom software that fill the gaps. We work across the full enterprise platform stack: implementing and configuring platforms, building integrations between them, customising workflows and business logic, and developing purpose-built software that sits between them. We approach platform work as business operations work — focused on what the organisation needs the platform to do, not on what the platform vendor says it can do.
Platforms
Technologies we work with
A CTO, VP of Engineering, or business operations leader at a mid-to-large enterprise running SAP, Oracle, Microsoft, or ServiceNow, where the gap between what the platform delivers out of the box and what the business needs has become a recurring operational constraint.
What we address
- —SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or ServiceNow implementations that need configuration, customisation, or integration work
- —Disconnected enterprise platforms creating data silos, manual handoffs, and operational bottlenecks across business units
- —SharePoint or Power Platform deployments that need to be built out, governed, or extended for the organisation's specific workflows
- —Custom software requirements that packaged platforms cannot meet, built and integrated into the existing enterprise landscape
- —Enterprise software delivery that has stalled due to integration complexity or organisational friction between platform and engineering teams
- —Platform vendors that have delivered a licence but not a working capability — leaving the organisation holding a tool that isn't being used
AI & Intelligent Automation
The AI investments that actually change how an organisation operates share a common characteristic: they were designed around a specific decision or process, not around a technology. We have seen the alternative — models built to specification, handed over, and quietly shelved because nobody agreed on what problem they were solving or who owned the outcome. Our AI engagements start with the operational question: which decision is being made badly, which process is consuming resources it shouldn't, where is the organisation flying blind. From there, we identify where intelligence can be embedded, build the capability on the right platforms, and stay involved long enough to know whether it is actually working in production.
Platforms
Technologies we work with
A COO, CDO, or CTO at an enterprise where AI is a board-level priority but operational delivery has stalled, or where a specific high-value process is still constrained by manual effort.
What we address
- —AI initiatives that leadership has committed to publicly but haven't materialised operationally
- —Manual, high-volume processes creating bottlenecks that headcount growth alone cannot solve
- —Decision-making in critical workflows running on intuition rather than evidence
- —Customer-facing processes that need to scale without proportional cost increases
- —Enterprise platforms — Oracle, SAP, Salesforce — that need AI capability embedded within them
- —Existing AI investments that produced a model but not a sustainable business capability
Mobile Application Development
Enterprise users expect the same quality and reliability from a mobile application that they get from any mission-critical system. We build mobile applications across all three major development approaches: cross-platform with React Native for maximum reach and code efficiency, native iOS with Swift, and native Android with Kotlin. Whether the requirement is a customer-facing application, a field operations tool, or a mobile extension of an existing enterprise platform, we design and build for performance, security, and the real-world conditions in which enterprise users operate.
Platforms
Technologies we work with
A product owner, CTO, or operations leader at an enterprise or growth-stage organisation that needs a mobile application built to a production standard — a standalone product, or a mobile layer on existing enterprise systems.
What we address
- —Customer or field-facing processes that require a dedicated mobile experience rather than a mobile browser workaround
- —Cross-platform applications that need to work reliably on both iOS and Android without maintaining two separate codebases
- —Native iOS or Android applications where performance, device integration, or platform-specific UX is a hard requirement
- —Mobile applications that need deep integration with existing enterprise systems — ERP, CRM, or internal APIs
- —Existing mobile applications that have accumulated technical debt and can no longer support new feature requirements or OS updates
- —Organisations launching a new product that requires mobile as the primary delivery channel
Data & Analytics
Data strategies fail most often not in their ambition but in their execution: siloed ownership, inconsistent definitions, platforms that were modern five years ago, and analytics that remains ad-hoc and manual rather than embedded in operations. The organisations that use data as a genuine competitive advantage have invested in the foundations — data governance, a coherent platform, and the organisational capability to act on what the data shows. We help enterprises build those foundations and translate them into decisions that move the business.
Platforms
Technologies we work with
A CDO, CFO, or COO at an enterprise where data is acknowledged as strategically important but the organisation hasn't yet built the capability to act on it consistently and confidently.
What we address
- —Siloed data across business units that prevents unified, reliable operational decisions
- —Analytics that remains ad-hoc and manual rather than systematically embedded in operations
- —Data governance gaps creating compliance, quality, or audit risk
- —Leadership seeking business intelligence that goes beyond static dashboard reporting
- —A data platform that has accumulated technical debt and can no longer support current analytical demands
- —Data strategies that were well-designed but haven't survived organisational or leadership change
Digital Experience & Web Engineering
The quality of an organisation's digital presence is often the first thing a customer, partner, or prospective employee encounters. Yet many enterprises tolerate a significant gap between the sophistication of their internal systems and the quality of their external digital touchpoints — websites on outdated CMS platforms, customer portals with poor UX, and marketing properties that don't reflect the brand. We design and build digital experiences that close that gap: customer portals integrated with backend enterprise systems, design-system-backed web applications, performance-optimised marketing sites, and the content infrastructure that lets non-technical teams keep them current. We work across the full stack of modern web engineering — React, Next.js, headless CMS — and the integration layer that connects digital experiences to the enterprise data and systems behind them.
Platforms
Technologies we work with
A CMO, CPO, or Head of Digital at an enterprise or growth-stage organisation whose digital presence — customer portal, marketing site, or web application — has become a source of friction rather than a competitive asset.
What we address
- —Customer portals or self-service tools that are functionally inadequate or don't reflect the quality of the underlying product
- —Websites and marketing properties built on outdated CMS platforms that are slow, hard to maintain, or accumulating security debt
- —No design system or component library, leading to inconsistent UI across products and slow development cycles
- —Digital experiences disconnected from enterprise systems — requiring manual data entry or failing to surface the information customers need
- —Organisations launching a new brand, product, or market entry that need a digital presence built to a production standard
- —Content teams unable to update or maintain digital properties without developer involvement on every change
How We Engage
Three engagement models.
Fixed-scope engagement
A defined deliverable, agreed timeline, and clear outcome. Suited to organisations with a specific and well-understood problem that needs solving.
Ideal when: You have a specific problem, a clear outcome in mind, and want a structured delivery with defined milestones.
Embedded team
A dedicated IBIL team integrated into your organisation for a defined period. Suited to complex, ongoing transformations where continuity and depth matter.
Ideal when: You are running a large or long-horizon programme that demands sustained expertise and close organisational alignment over time.
Specialist deployment
IBIL consultants embedded directly within your team — working alongside your people, inside your processes, and accountable to your delivery goals.
Ideal when: You have the team and the direction, but need proven specialists working inside your organisation to close a capability or capacity gap.
